To create these drawings for the cover and booklet from our release of The Samurai Trilogy, Japanese artist Yuko Shimizu used Japanese calligraphy brushes and india ink on watercolor paper. She then scanned the drawings and digitally colored them. Shimizu says she was aiming for “graphic, iconic, and simple. Red and white are the colors of the Japanese flag. But I wanted to use them in as nontraditional a way as possible.”
