I agree with Village Green! "A Prophet" is a amazing picture! Audiard had created something beautiful and something that should not be waved off into dust, but be honored the to the Collection. Of coarse there are many films that probably deserve this such as "Punch Drunk Love" or "The Night of The Iguana" and so on. I came on this site for this very reason, to find out if Criterion had chose "A Prophet" to add to the kingdom, but I have high hopes.

I think at the top of your list for new films to restore and release should be Mizoguchi's "The Story of the Last Chrysanthemums." I had to watch it on a video tape of the poorest quality -- really the worst. But even then I could tell that it is a great film. I am sure that if it were given a proper restoration and released on DVD -- it would be awesome. In the BFI poll of greatest films in 2002, it was rated in the top 40 or so, with only "Ugetsu" and "Sansho the Bailiff" being the other Mizoguchi films on the list. Please restore and release this masterpiece!

Add my name to the Life Aquatic Blu-ray campaign!. Thanks for bringing something refreshing to the mix, Jason. As for Sleeping Beauty that was a problematic film but no less interesting. I reviewed it upon release: http://bit.ly/Vh4DAD

The three major titles missing from my Criterion bluray collection that cannot be found on bluray anywhere: (most especially, like everyone else here) The Life Aquatic, The Conformist, and Soderbergh's Solaris. Tarovsky's is good too, but Soderbergh's is a Solaris I need to see in as many lines of resolution as you can give me. Also, Criterion's recent Paths of Glory bluray needs to be accompanied with the acquisition of all of Kubrick's other films! I think Warner Bros. currently owns most of Kubrick's material if not all of it, but I can keep wishing Criterion will do something about that and take it over, if for no other reason than for the sake of collector who wants Kubrick's films to stand out on his shelf and appear more like an art collection even in the viewing than a mishmash of corporate video releases.

Yes, all of those movies could be released on Blu-Ray soon. The first release of, "Moonrise Kingdom", on D.V.D. and Blu-Ray did not have a lot of special features in it.

You could release The, "Always: Sunset on Third Street", film series soon. The film series is very popular when it's released in Japan. Three reasons why you could release this film series is because anime meets real life in the film series, the film series's setting of Tokyo, Japan between 1958 and 1964 being recreated and its story. The last two films in the film series are, "Always: Sunset on Third Street 2", and, "Always: Sunset on Third Street '64". You could put both the 2D and 3D versions of the third film in the Blu-Ray version of the box set. You could learn more information about the first film in the film series through the website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Always:_Sunset_on_Third_Street. The film series is distributed by Toho. Thank you.

Maybe there could be a Wes Anderson box set containing everything from the bottle rocket short to grand budapest, then we could finally get Life Aquatic on blu-ray!

A new year and another vote for a new release of Life Aquatic. Being my favorite Wes Anderson movie, it pains me to see that this one may be slipping into "Out of Print" status (Criterion not being able to provide a copy but a link to it's availability at Amazon???). If Criterion doesn't think it'll make money off of it, I'll promise to buy enough copies to make it so ... really I will.
