    I'll never forget watching his (and Peter Brook's) adaptation of The Mahabharata. Got a copy of the script, which I read multiple times growing up.

    Also worth noting are Carrière's collaborations with Louis Malle, ranging from Viva Maria! and A Thief in Paris in the mid-'60s to 1990's May Fools

    Carrière is a master. Look forward to the day Criterion releases BIRTH, certainly one of the most underrated films of the past decade.
