All I want to know about is if Criterion will be picking up A Prophet.... Just had the opportunity to see this film (in america) and I must say it was the most startling intriguing film I have seen in years (or at least since There Will Be Blood). It has "Criterion" written all over it!

I agree with Village Green! "A Prophet" is a amazing picture! Audiard had created something beautiful and something that should not be waved off into dust, but be honored the to the Collection. Of coarse there are many films that probably deserve this such as "Punch Drunk Love" or "The Night of The Iguana" and so on. I came on this site for this very reason, to find out if Criterion had chose "A Prophet" to add to the kingdom, but I have high hopes.

I think at the top of your list for new films to restore and release should be Mizoguchi's "The Story of the Last Chrysanthemums." I had to watch it on a video tape of the poorest quality -- really the worst. But even then I could tell that it is a great film. I am sure that if it were given a proper restoration and released on DVD -- it would be awesome. In the BFI poll of greatest films in 2002, it was rated in the top 40 or so, with only "Ugetsu" and "Sansho the Bailiff" being the other Mizoguchi films on the list. Please restore and release this masterpiece!

I agree with Ted: more Mizoguchi and Ozu, pretty please.
