Mary Ellen Mark Remembers Fellini

We were saddened to learn of the passing yesterday of Mary Ellen Mark, a great, world-renowned American photographer and a wonderful friend to Criterion. In honor of her extraordinary career, we thought we‘d share an excerpt from a recent interview we recorded with her for our release of Fellini Satyricon. In 1969, when she was twenty-eight, she was commissioned to document the production of the outré Federico Fellini film for Look magazine, and it would prove to be one of the assignments she remembered most fondly. Here, she talks about that experience, and you can see some of the phenomenal photographs that were a result.
