Larry McMurtry in Tucson

On Film / In Theaters — Oct 16, 2014

The Loft Cinema in Tucson, Arizona, is kicking off its annual Loft Film Fest tonight with a very special event. The Pulitzer Prize–winning novelist and screenwriter Larry McMurtry will appear in person for a screening of The Last Picture Show, Peter Bogdanovich’s overwhelmingly poignant breakthrough film, which was based on a book by McMurtry—and for which McMurtry cowrote the screenplay. Among the many pleasures of this tale of three wayward teens in a dusty Texas town in the fifties is the Oscar-winning supporting performance by Cloris Leachman as a neglected housewife who has an affair with a high-schooler. Watch some of her unforgettable work in the film below.
