Criterion Films in My Top 100

Edit ListThis is a list of my favourite films in the Criterion Collection. I don't own all of them. I'm waiting for blu-ray releases of a lot of them.
It was going to be a top ten list but I wanted to have one film per director so I kept adding until I had ten different directors at which point I had 17 films, at which point I decided I might as well make it a top 20 list, at which point I figured, why not 25? And eventually it became what it is now: a list of all the Criterion films amongst my personal 100 favourite films of all time. Over 30. Blame Akira Kurosawa.
Anyway, I'll write thoughts on more of them some time maybe.

While watching the third film, recall the first scene of the first film. Recall the fresh-faced Kaji and his encounter with Michiko on that dark and snowy street. Now consider how much has happened since then. Consider how attached you've grown to Kaji over the last 7 hours or so, and consider how much he's changed (the character development in this film is so staggering it makes it hard to even take the concept of character development seriously in the context of any other movie). And now, prepare yourself, for a final part that is so unbelievably flawless in it's execution, and overwhelming in the depth of its humanity and in the sincerity of its tragedy. This is powerful cinema, folks.
