I'll restate to say Moore is a political hack, as the lunatic part is speculative and not proven.

To JMcGrath: EVOO= Extra Virgin Olive Oil. The bottles are doing something called a "Suicide Running Drill" (http://livehealthy.chron.com/suicide-running-drill-8784.html), hence THE VIRGIN SUICIDES. An obscure one, but that seems to be it. I got that from The Criterion Forum, which has some other pretty definitive-seeming guesses: http://www.criterionforum.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15194

YES! So hyped for Sofia Coppola to enter the collection! Finally! And for those speculating about the girl on the moon being something about Ingmar Bergman it sounds pretty legit to me since 2018 is his 100 years anniversary and it would make sense for Criterion to celebrate with box-set(s) and upgrades (Belief-trilogy on blu anyone?)!

Now that's a great thought ... I would welcome a blu ray upgrade of Ingmar Bergman's "Trilogy of Faith". Can't get enough Bergman on CC blu ray. As you state, 2018 is the most appropriate year to honor his accomplishments.

Could the olive oil cartoon just be for an upgrade of Bergman's The Virgin Spring instead of The Virgin Suicides?

Possible considering they are wearing shorts which could indicate warmer weather? But that may be a stretch. Aside from that, what else could be a reference to “spring”

It could be, but Sofia have actually already confirmed Virgin Suicides for CC! http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=22535

Are they ever planning to release Dragon Inn? It obviously doesn’t appear to be in the drawing and how long has the artwork for it been in the store at this point? 2 years?

I was expecting Dragon Inn as well. Criterion is slow in releasing King Hu, another one, Legend of the Mountain has also been restored and is coming to Masters of Cinema.

The man in the raft looks like it could be Bertrand Tavernier's Journey Through French Cinema.

I'm pretty sure it's Tony Zhou as the image is a reference to his youtube channel series Every Frame a Painting.

No idea how people draw conclusion out of three bottles of olive oil to be The Virgin Suicides... There were five girls etc. Three virgins summer ... Fast Times at Ridgemont High would be it, I guess...

Dragon Inn should be a priority. They obviously already have the art done for it because the poster is available... hopefully we get it soon.

Is the water out of the box truck with the film reel icon signifying "streaming"? Maybe they will be streaming a special program of films on Fridays and Tuesday?

Yeah, it's definitely referring to their streaming service. It's a films truck (FilmStruck) of course

I could've sworn I heard rumors of Until the End of the World and a reissue of Tales of Hoffman a few years ago. Huh. Well, the films they've got here are pretty good too. Looking forward to The Color of Pomegranates and Dead Man especially.

The graduation caps could represent a reissue of "Kicking and Screaming"?

I just wish to apologize to Michael Moore and the Criterion Community for my negative comments concerning Michael Moore and his films. I understand and admit such negative comments have no place on this, or any other, website. A moment of weakness for which I seek forgiveness.

Maybe a stretch, but those tiny lines above the moon could be an indicator of "Moonlight". With the graduation hats I'm guessin Graduation, sine "4 months, 3 weeks, and 2 days" is rumored to arrive in the collection.

The Other Side of Hope, Graduation, Beyond the Hills, The Color of Pomegranates, Full Metal Jacket, Dead Man, The Conqueror Worm The Big Lebowski, The Awfal Truth, Scarlett Empress The river thing as much as I don't like it, since FilmStruck is only in USA, and not outside too, but it has something to do with it. Most likely something like features on Friday, double on the other day, meet the filmmakers, you get the idea. The running bottles: I doubt it's Virgin Suicides. My bet is; Fast Times at Ridgemont High. My hope for 2018; Soy Cuba

Bowling for Columbine seems probable, but part of me was hoping more for Full Metal Jacket and The Big Lebowski! A boy can dream.
