I await the 15th of each month to see what other treasures Criterion are going to release. Many of us are now backing up earlier DVD's with Blu Rays. Films I'd particularly love to see get the Criterion treatment- Antonioni's The Passenger, Jean-Jacques Beineix' Diva, Jarmusch's Ghost Dog and Van Sant's Drugstore Cowboy. And great contemporary directors yet to get on the list- Tsai Ming Liang, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Jia Zhangke. Nuri Bilge Ceylon and Hou Hsiao-Hsien. And how about classic Japanese directors like Gosho Heinosuke and Yoshimura Kozaburo and Mikio Naruse's great run of films in the 1950's?

  • Favorite director: Aki Kaurismaki
  • Favorite Criterion edition: The Battle of Algiers
  • Most wanted in the collection: Drugstore Cowboy
