I have been a member of the BFI for 40 years and love a range of movies. I especially have a passion for collecting silent films. My top ten movies are: Casablanca (Curtiz) Les Enfant du Paradis (Carne) Heaven's Gate (Cimino) Tokyo Story (Ozu) Seventh Seal (Bergman) Picnic at Hanging Rock (Weir) Dersu Uzala (Kurosawa) Charulata (Ray) Monsieur Verdoux (Chaplin) City Lights (Chaplin) Other films I love include: The Magnificent Ambersons (Welles), Raging Bull (Scorsese), Paris Texas (Wenders), Sunrise (Murnau), In the Mood for Love (Wong Kar-Wai), Mulholland Drive (Lynch), The Godfather (Coppola), The Leopard (Visconti) and The General (Keaton). To me a great film is one that can withstand repeated viewings and you never get fed up watching it.
