I love classical cinema and jidaigeki pieces. I like film history, particularly the development of film over the years in different cultures and studios.
- Favorite director: Kenji Mizoguchi, Masaki Kobayashi, Akira Kurosawa, Yasujiro Ozu, Jean-Pierre Melville, Ingmar Bergman, Otto Preminger, Fritz Lang, P.T. Anderson -- in no particular order. If I had to pick one....
- Favorite Criterion edition: Harakiri, Ran, Umberto-D
- Most wanted in the collection: Clockers, Dersu Uzala, Onimasa, Tenchu! (1969), Zeffirelli's Jesus of Nazareth, Takeshi Kitano films (Hana-Bi, Boiling Point).
