Fast Food for Thought

Renowned author, film scholar, and Wong Kar-wai well-wisher David Bordwell takes a peek at the new Criterion edition of Chungking Express on his personal blog. Bordwell, who’s written about the artistry of this dynamic auteur in his books Planet Hong Kong and Poetics of Cinema, and, he reveals, will be blogging soon on Ashes of Time Redux, calls Chungking Express his “favorite of Wong’s work” and “an important film historically.” He also offers a special snack: a recent snapshot of the film’s Midnight Express food stand, featuring a certain film lover from Madison.

i’m unfamiliar with the rights situation regarding “Fallen Angels,” but any chance we’ll be seeing that – my favorite Wong Kar-wai film – in a resplendent Criterion blu-ray edition any time soon / ever?

I’d also be interested if fallen angels will be added to criterion
