The new 35 mm print of Costa-Gavras’s Academy Award–winning Z, struck for the fortieth anniversary of the film in a joint effort by Janus Films and Rialto Pictures, is opening today at Los Angeles’s Nuart Theater. In an interview with the Los Angeles Times’ Susan King, Costa-Gavras recalls the production and reception of the political thriller, which moves from Los Angeles onto Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, and other cities across the country in the coming months (see the full schedule here).
Los Angeles will continue to pay its respects to the Greek filmmaker later this month when, on April 23, the City of Lights City of Angels Film Festival screens his 1965 debut feature, The Sleeping Car Murders, and his latest, Eden Is West, making its West Coast premiere.
