I am a new collector of Criterions, and I only buy Blu-Ray, but I am quickly growing my collection. There are MANY movies that I would like to see added the collection including all of Andrei Tarkovsky, Quentin Tarantino, the Coen Brothers, Wes Anderson, Alfred Hitchcock, Frank Capra, Stanley Kubrick, Francis Ford Coppola, Sofia Coppola, Alejandro Gonzáles Iñárritu, Paul Thomas Anderson, Christopher Nolan, Alfonso Cuarón (especially "Children of Men"), John Carpenter, Rian Johnson, Nicolas Winding Refn, Lars von Trier, Charlie Kaufman, David Mackenzie, Tom Ford, Neill Blomkamp, Denis Villenueve, Chan Wook Park, Gaspar Noe, Shane Carruth, Paul Verhoeven, Gareth Evans, Kim Jee Woon's "I Saw the Devil," Ridley Scott (especially "Blade Runner" and "Alien"), Tony Scott's "True Romance," Michael Curtiz's "Casablanca," and Sam Mendes's "American Beauty." I would also like to see rereleases of out-of-print or non-Blu-Ray Criterions such as "The Princess Bride" and especially the amazing "Last Year at Marienbad. I'm sure there are many more directors and movies that I am forgetting that I'd love to see get the Criterion treatment. In a broad stroke, I would also like to see more anime included like all of Hayao Miyazaki, "Grave of the Fireflies," "Akira," "Ghost in the Shell," "Cowboy Bebop: Knockin' On Heaven's Door," etc. I consider myself a film novice overall (in cinematic understanding, not in total number of films watched), but I am always trying to challenge myself and learn more about the craft involved in motion picture creation; I believe that pursuing the Criterion Collection is a good step towards that, especially in broadening my horizons and opening my eyes to more of the classics and foreign films that I may have missed.
