I was born in Crete, Greece, I lived in Crete, Athens, England, France and Portugal, I studied biology in Essex (UK) and Paris and presently I am a full Professor of Molecular Microbiology at the Biology Department of Athens University in Greece. I teach and do basic research, both of which I enjoy very much. I love traveling and reading novels, as much as I enjoy cinema. I also enjoy theater and modern dance. I have a 23 year-old lovely daughter, a sister and two nieces, and live, for the last 6 years, with a wonderful woman. I almost abandoned my Ph.D to become cinema director, but eventually only made three very amateurish short movies, wrote a couple of scenarios and two theater plays. I love Italy in all its aspects of life and its aesthetics, and also Brazil. I listen to jazz, Brazilian and other ethnic and black music styles but also enjoy Cretan music. My favorite rock band was The Talking Heads. I am very lucky to have some excellent and faithful friends around me. Politically I hate fanaticism and racism and believe in liberalism (after so mush disappointment with left ideologies in practice). I admire mostly writers (Vargas Llosa, Marquez, Dostoevsky, Fuentes, Oz, Kavafi, Elena Ferrante), but also Mandela and Obama. I am totally seduced by Italian cinema ladies such as Monica Viitti, Stephania Sandrelli, Claudia Cardinalle and Monica Bellucci.
