There Goes the Sun

The series Chris Marker: Guillaume-en-Égypte, currently running at the Harvard Film Archive in Cambridge, is a wide-ranging survey of the career of the brilliant cine-essayist and multimedia artist, who died last year at age ninety-one. Among the most politically engaged and indefatigably experimental cinematic artists who ever lived, Marker left behind a series of meditations on history and memory that reveal new surprises with each viewing. His most popular feature remains Sans Soleil. This exploratory film about technology and time, which journeys from Africa to Japan to San Francisco, plays December 7. Watch the first minute of the film below.
