I was first introduced to the collection with the films of Akira Kurosawa: the first of his films seen being Seven Samurai, which was also the first foreign film I ever saw; then the first film in my collection being the Yojimbo/Sanjuro Box-Set. After that I was completely hooked, and numerous other Kurosawa films followed. After the completion of his films I began to expand my knowledge of other great foreign films such as that of Ingmar Bergman, Andrei Tarkovsky, Kenji Mizoguchi, Jean Renoir and Luis Bunuel. As I became more involved with their work I grew more and more away from the conventional films of Hollywood, which pushed me deeper and deeper into the collection and has changed my life for the better.
