I was introduced to the collection with the films of Akira Kurosawa. The first of his films seen being Seven Samurai. My collection started with the Yojimbo/Sanjuro Box-Set, followed by numerous of his other films. From there on I was completely hooked. After the completion of his films I began to expand my knowledge of other great films such as that of Ingmar Bergman, Andrei Tarkovsky, Kenji Mizoguchi, Jean Renoir and Luis Buñuel. As I became more involved with their work I grew further and further away from the conventional films of Hollywood, which continued to push me deeper into the collection, changing my life for the better.

  • Favorite director: Akira Kurosawa
  • Favorite Criterion edition: Seven Samurai
  • Most wanted in the collection: The Quiet Duel, Luis Buñuel: The essential films of the Mexican period, Shame/Hour of the Wolf, Chimes at Midnight, Blow-Up, The Kid/The Circus, Shoeshine, Comedies and Proverbs, They Call Me Trinity/Trinity is Still My Name, Robert Bresson in Color.
