Godard is one of my most favorite filmmakers so, realizing I've seen all of his films that Criterion has released, I thought I'd make one of these lists ranking them from 1 to 12 (but all of them definitely worth watching).
whom cares who got what? I guess if you don't have them you can't rate them. Godard was evolutionary in his record pace that the dozen films listed here were made in a dozen years. There were another 6 or 7 made during the same period including "Sympathy For The Devil" - The Rolling Stones documentary from 1970 and as the decade known as the 1960s ended. A growing disenchantment of French society with an alarming disconnect from the French government, Godard turned into a social revolutionist which landed in him in Switzerland. his imprint on modern cinema makes him a generational icon and master of his craft. I agree with the the # 1 pick here. the rest come down to personal taste although Band of Outsiders, Alphaville, Contempt, Breathless, and Pierrot Le Fou should show up often on top list where foreign films reign. He also doubled as a pioneer in brand identity in modern advertising with his media play on words, color fonts, and subliminal product placement.

As far as a list goes, I like the tribute to JLG, but I would have liked to read your thoughts about the films of one of your favorite directors...
