Edit List

Best covers from the Criterion Collection. Unique cover art and best representation of their respective films score biggest points here.

Covers are one of my favorite things about the CC and one of the things I love looking forward to each month after the new releases are announced.

Also, the CC could make a KILLING offering these covers as posters. Just sayin'.

Agreed re: The Phantom of Liberty (I almost put it here!) but actually nearly all of the Buñuel covers can be placed here, I just wanted to be shrewd with this list and at 100+, there's still about two dozen others I left out that were noteworthy. I wanted these to be the ones that jump out at me as the Best.

Wow, this is one heck of a list. I think you got half the collection here! haha But I know how you feel, the covers are real selling points. I love nearly all of them! I can't stand movie posters these days. But then, the movies they're advertising are aimed at the same audience: the masses. Zero attention spans, no patience, no appreciation. Everything has to be in your face and shoved down your throat (just in case you forgot that Channing Tatum is the star of this show - OMG!!!) Ugh... I wish movie posters were more like Criterion's artwork, but hey, I can settle for premium DVD/Blu-ray covers instead!

Agreed. But yeah, I had to include all the ones I thought were legitimately great and/or represented their movie in the best and most striking way. And I think I even left off some good ones. lol

The just-released upgraded cover on The Tin Drum is fantastic, I must say. Added to this list now.

That watercolor rendering of Deneuve on the Belle De Jour cover is to die for. The eyes! I love a good closeup and the one used for the Red Shoes cover is amazing and sums up the whole film perfectly.

My favorite has to be Alphaville, with Brazil as a close second.

The Brazil cover for the blu ray makes me wish they offered posters for ALL of their spine numbers because it's rather spectacular and would look amazing on my wall.

Almost the entire collection is worthy of being on this list, but my favorite would have to be Dead Ringers, Paris, Texas, and Solaris. They should definitely sell more of their spine numbers as posters if not all of them.

I think that's probably my number one personal request to Criterion these days. I know, I know... licencing and artists' copyright and everything would be crazy to navigate for them, I'm sure, but they would make a KILLING. Especially during sales, can you imagine? I can think of about two dozen that I would buy right this exact moment.

I think the original Armaracord cover is one of my favorite covers.
