Geraldine Chaplin in Florida

Of all the colorful characters in Robert Altman’s Nashville, the funniest and perhaps most maddening is Opal, the British reporter who claims to be covering the country music capital for the BBC and who always seems to be where she doesn’t belong. In another actor’s hands, this entitled interloper might have been an unbearable brat, but as brought to life by the marvelous Geraldine Chaplin, she is comic perfection. Viewers at the Coral Gables Art Cinema in Florida are in for a treat, as Chaplin will be on hand for a Q&A following a fortieth-anniversary screening of Nashville on Sunday, January 25. Watch our Three Reasons video below for glimpses of Chaplin and other members of the film’s extraordinary cast.
