• We mentioned last April that Ingmar Bergman’s intense, Oscar-winning chamber drama Through a Glass Darkly, about a young woman’s emotional crack-up, was being adapted for the London stage. Now, the Los Angeles Times reports, the acclaimed Almeida Theatre production is making its way to New York, and will be headlined there by up-and-comer Carey Mulligan. The British actress, who was nominated for an Academy Award last year for her performance in An Education, will take over the role made famous by Bergman mainstay Harriet Andersson. Through a Glass Darkly will be staged off-Broadway by the Atlantic Theater Company and run at the East Village’s New York Theatre Workshop from June 6 to July 3.
