Klein Item

The Australian Centre for the Moving Image begins a retrospective of the film work of groundbreaking photographer and multimedia artist William Klein on January 22, and to accompany its fourteen-film program, critic and Criterion contributor Adrian Martin has written an essay on Klein’s filmography. In “William Klein: Waiting for a Photographer,” Martin takes a close look at the cinematic signatures of this “canny voyeur,” from the three kaleidoscopic works that make up the Eclipse set The Delirious Fictions of William Klein (Who Are You, Polly Maggoo?, Mr. Freedom, and The Model Couple) to his prodigious documentary output.
